Johnson Kanady III
History
Johnson Kanady received his law degree from the College of William and Mary, Marshall-Wythe School of Law, where he served on the William and Mary Law Review. He earned the degree of Master of Laws in Taxation in 1983 from New York University. He was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 1975 and has practiced law since then. Mr. Kanady has been admitted to and practiced before the United States Supreme Court (1978), the United States Tax Court (1980), United States District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Virginia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit as well as all Virginia courts.
Specialties
Mr. Kanady represents clients in business matters, including formation of business entities, contract negotiation, acquisition and sale of businesses, financing transactions, negotiation and drafting of leases and contracts and business and personal taxation matters.
Mr. Kanady provides estate planning services to clients with large and small estates and also represents clients in connection with tax-oriented real estate transactions, including historic rehabilitation tax credits and low income housing tax credits.
